SOCIAL SCIENCE

Some methods of teaching Social Studies at Sangam include, stimulation, lab activities, inquiry, project, dramatizations, questions and answer, field-trips, discussion, lecture, problem-solving, dramatization, home assignment and construction methods. Learning is made less tedious and more functional, with efforts made to identify and make extensive use of available instructional, resources both material and human. The selection and decision on appropriate resources is based on the student’s age, ability and interest. The wide range of resources include textbooks, newspapers, pictures and charts, maps, models, real object resource centers, audio-visual devices, chalkboard and graph. Real life experiences encourage students to connect with the world. Art Integration activities such as Poster Making, Collage making etc are incorporated within the subject curriculum. History, Civics and Geography is introduced separately from grade 3 onwards.

MATHEMATICS

Technology is an amazing tool that we can use to enhance our teaching practice, not replace it. Instructional videos make the lessons more accessible to the students. Apart from traditional written exams, subject enrichment activities, multiple assessments through quizzes, portfolio preparation on a specific topic are also conducted to enrich math skills of students. At Sangam, we are well equipped with a math lab, a library with several books on Mathematical concepts which help the students to understand the depth of the subject. Through activities students learn to do through concrete activities thus laying down a firm foundation for more abstract thinking. It encourages students to become independent learners and allows them to learn at their own pace. By fearlessly engaging with puzzles and games they have an opportunity to alter the rules and constraints. Thus becoming aware of the role of rules and constraints in mathematics, hence adding a variety in learning mathematics at school.

ART AND CRAFT

Children are very visual about everything that happens around them and their best way of expression is through art and craft. Here they experiment and create by squishing paint between their fingers, mixing colours and materials, moulding clay into different shapes and painting from their imagination.

Art and craft at Sangam help instil a sense of achievement and pride in children, boosting their self-confidence. The opportunity to create whatever a child desires helps foster creativity. When a child feels confident then definitely he/she performs well, academically too.

Language Labs

The accommodation of a separate language lab in Sangam School of Excellence is a step ahead in making our students more confident in their approach while conversing.

The state of the art lab is backed by wonderful and powerful software by Globarena Technologies. It is equipped with all the modern amenities and multimedia facilities. We also have interactive boards that play a vital role. The spacious lab can accommodate up to 35 students in it at one time.

Sports

Children who indulge in outdoor activities and sports have better concentration levels and tend to excel in academics. For this particular reason, SSE emphasises to involve all the students in both indoor and outdoor sports through a set of impeccable activities where they are free to choose what they desire.

To accommodate almost every interest feasible, we have extensive and excellent playgrounds, well maintained courts for tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball, handball, hockey, cricket and football in our premises.

Sports activities allow students to channelize the brewing energy in them in the right direction. In addition, it helps build a sense of companionship and teamwork in them, which are essential aspects to attain success in future.
