HOBBY AND SPORTS CLASSES

Hobbies help us not only to pass our time meaningfully but also develop our creativity. To develop this creativity among students, Lotus Valley offers an array of hobbies. One hour a day, after the morning assembly is allotted for hobby classes. Students choose any one hobby of their choice and hone their skills in that particular field under the guidance of professional trainers. Dance: The dance can reveal everything mysterious that is hidden in music, and it has the additional merit of being human and palpable. Dancing is poetry with arms and legs. The children who choose this hobby are taught classical, western or folk dance by the experts, according to the choice of the students. Music Instrumental: Music is the literature of the heart; it commences where speech ends. Music will help dissolve your perplexities and purify your character and sensibilities, and in time of care and sorrow, will keep a fountain of joy alive in you. Our students have performed at various musical competitions and won accolades. Hockey: Hockey is a unique sport in the sense that you need each and every guy helping each other and pulling in the same direction to be successful. Students of Lotus Valley participated in many tournaments and won prizes. Cricket: Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players. It is set on a cricket field centered on a 20-metre (22-yard) pitch with two wickets each comprising a bail balanced on three stumps. At Lotus Valley, Matches and tournaments are held to put to test the skill, stamina and hardship of the participants. Football: Football is a family of team sports that involve, to varying degrees, kicking a ball with a foot to score a goal. At Lotus Valley, Matches and tournaments are held and medals, shields and cups are awarded to the players for achieving excellence in their performance. Basketball: Basketball is a team sport in which ten players, five on a side, opposing one another on a rectangular court, have in play the primary objective to shoot a basketball through the defender's hoop while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. lawn tennis: In lawn tennis, players use rackets, which are oval in shape at the top, having chequered strings as cords to strike a rubber ball along with a handle to provide a firm grip. Lawn Tennis has been intoduced in the school and a professional trainer teaches the right technique to play this sport to students. Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. Karate: Karate, unarmed martial-arts discipline employing kicking, striking, and defensive blocking with arms and legs. Emphasis is on concentrating as much of the body's power as possible at the point and instant of impact. Lotus Valley cater to the need of those students who want to practice it for self-perfection, self-defense and as a sport. Boxing: Boxing is a comba sport in which two people, usually wearing protective gloves, throw punches at each other for a predetermined set of time in a boxing ring.

SMART CLASSES

Learning becomes effective when the sensory organs receive practical experience. Our Audio Visual Smart classroom is equipped to give practical ( audio and visual) experience to the students. Each Smart class is provided with a Digital board, a Computer and LCD projector. This is a networked, wired classroom where the best Audio-Visual learning practice, is offered to the students. THE LIBRARY

The Library plays a very vital role in the lives of the students as it develops their skill for reading. Stories are narrated to the students of the first and second standards. They are also encouraged by the librarian to read simple books. Aided with LCD projectors, students can watch educational audio-visuals on Science, Geography and History, and also work on software’s like Paintbrush and Flash. Internet facility is also available here, and the students can browse and garner additional information on any subject of their choice. The school library is well-equipped with wide range of books concerning all subjects. It develops the habit of reading among the students. The school maintains a large library that has some excellent reference books and the latest scientific and news magazines.

LAB

SCIENCE LAB : Science plays a vital role in the development of scientific temper amongst the students. The school has well-equipped physics, Chemistry, Biology labs which integrate the theoretical knowledge with practical knowledge. The labs are well equipped with the latest instruments and material necessary for making learning an enjoyble experience for students. The labs help in providing the practical knowledge of the subject effectively. They help in making concepts clear and reduce dependence on cramming. Pupils can relate textual knowledge with the practical aspects of life. They understand better when their learning is based on observation. MATHS LAB : The Mathematics laboratory is a variant colourful room. Students from classes III to X have well planned activities here. The lab is equipped with gadgets, games, models, kits to facilitate and engage the students in a variety of hands on learning experiences. There is also extensive use of technology in the lab with latest modules for self learning and interactive mental math puzzles. LANGUAGE LAB : English Language Lab provides a rich interactive experience using various audio visual elements. The lab software enriches the vocabulary, grammar, conversation skills and inculcates good pronunciation among students.

COMPUTER LAB

The school has one computer laboratory which is accessible to students. It has advanced infrastructure in terms of hardware and software which cater to the requirements of the students, teachers and the curriculum. They do comprehensive research for their projects and presentations. The information Technology curriculum has been planned in such a way that the students of classes I to VIII will get exposure to various technologies are trained to use basic software like Ms-Windows, Ms-Office (Ms-Word, Ms-PowerPoint, Ms-Excel etc.) Along with this , they get exposure to computer programming at elementary stage through the computer languages like LOGO and Q-Basic in order to improve their logical skills. The students are assessed on their practical skills over a regular time interval via projects and assignments given to them. In the higher classes the students have an option to learn advanced software which are the part of their curriculum. The Students get exposure to the latest Multimedia software's like LLASH, Photoshop, Image-ready etc. On the other hand to sharpen their logical and reasoning skills, they learn computer languages like Visual Basic, JAVA and C++. Besides taking care of the curriculum the students are given opportunities to participate in various competitions allied with Information Technology like NGC (National Graphics Championship), NCO (National Cyber Olympiad) at National level and they come to know where they stand. The faculty members work hard with the students all over the country.

GAMES AND SPORTS

Sports and Games form on integral part of the school curriculum. The school has special arrangements for indoor games like caroms, chess, badminton etc. Furthermore, the school offers state of art courts for basketball, badminton, volleyball, lawn tennis, skating rink, ground for cricket, football and Judo-karate. Their regular coaching is given to the students under the supervision of expert coaches. Annual sports meet is organized every year to develop the spirit of sportsmanship, co-orperation and team spirit amongst students. Besides this several Inter-school tournaments are conducted on the school grounds.

MUSIC ROOMS

Music is our religion, culture and soul.Under our skilled music teachers, the students are in touch with our traditional, folk and western music. where ever the students have participated, they have won medals and positions. The school’s modern music suite comprises a large music room, and a number of smaller practice studios. These facilities are used for individual/group instrumental Practice and for choral music. In addition, music as a subject is available at every level. The ’Music Fraternity’ provides an opportunity for learning Tabla, Sitar, Sarod, Flute, Piano, Mandolin, Violin and Guitar.

BALL ROOM

The colorful balls for the joyous moods provide joy and entertainment as well as opportunity for physical activity to the Kinder Garten Students.
