The school campus covers an area of almost 6 ‘bighas’ 17 ‘kathas’. There are playgrounds and the buildings are spacious and airy. The Newly furnished Computer Laboratory has modern computers to cater to the needs of the students. Our aim is to empower students by enabling them to build their own applications. Students learn how to process words and numbers, analyse data, communicate ideas effectively and make the optimum use of computer resources. The senior class students learn fundamental concepts of computing using object-oriented approach in one computer language. Each student gets a computer in his/her practical class to experience the practical side of computer applications.
St. Thomas Church School has a well-equipped modern laboratory with a whole lot of modern amenities to cater to the need of the students. The students get a first-hand experience of the practical side of Chemistry and Biology. The laboratory is, in fact, a base for budding scientists, a place where they can put their innovative ideas and thoughts into practice. The teaching faculty and the able laboratory assistants are forever ready to guide the students in their endeavours. Our physics laboratory is one of the most-well-equipped laboratories amongst the various schools in Howrah and Kolkata. It is a large one with dimension of 12m by 10 m. Various types of instruments for experiments adorn the laboratory. We have equipments to facilitate experiments on Electricity, Optics, Mechanics and Electronics. The laboratory can accommodate as many as 60 students at a time. The laboratory is well designed with the latest techniques available. The In-Charge of our Physics Laboratory is our senior Physics teacher, Mr. S. R. Bhaduri. The Laboratory assistant, Mr. Saibal Basu is able and efficient enough to handle and run the Physics laboratory under the able leadership and guidance of Mr. S.R. Bhaduri.
The new library on the top floor of the senior school building is a state-of-the art library. It boasts of a computerised assembly of a large collection of books on various subjects. A number of well- arranged cupboards have an enviable collection of books which the students are encouraged to read and ruminate on.
Home Science education, a dynamic field of education for a better living. It explores the possibility of the establishment of the perfections in social order starting from home life to the community level. It is totally a new subject offered to the students of class XI and XII Humanities. Cooking, stitching, flower arrangement, floor decoration, vegetable carving are included as a part of Home Science. We have a well equipped, well ventilated and well lit Home Science laboratory in the ground floor. The lab has all necessary kitchen utensils and electronic gadgets like refrigerator, OTG, microwave oven, mixer grinder, cooking range. It is compulsory for the students to wear lab coats and head gear during practical class. The students find Home Science lab a dedicated place to enjoy cooking and learning scientific procedures for making home a better place to live in.
The school has Counsellors deputed from Counselling Centre who attend to the need of students and parents. They have a designated office within the precepts of the school from where they operate. Counselling is open to all students and parents, who wish to access this service. The Counsellor is in office on Fridays between 9:30 am and 11:00 am. Counselling is free of charge.
