"Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan will be proactive in shaping the future." Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan started its journey on March 3, 1948. The main goal of this Vidyaniketan was not just education. The aim was to make the students fit for the society through education. The idea was Rabindra Nath Tagore's Santiniketan. That is why sports, increasing physical fitness, cultural practice, giving priority to social work in awareness, mental preparation for defending the country, the aim and purpose was acquire such qualities from Vidyaniketan. Inter-class football cricket used to played for physical fitness, physical education classes were made compulsory in the weekly class routine. After Netaji's birthday in January, the annual sports competition was mandatory where the aim was to create athletes for the state and the country. In order to increase and enrich the cultural consciousness of the students, a cultural meeting of the students was compulsory. At the same time, education fairs were chosen as an urgent medium for the students to express their cultural consciousness. In recognition of merit, there are various prizes for students. From there the Sanskriti Bhavan, the main medium of cultural consciousness, was created by feeling the need. The first student parliament of the state was introduced with the aim of social consciousness and goodwill towards the country. At the same time, ACC (Azad Hind Cadet Corps) was formed for the purpose of raising awareness about the country, it was later renamed as NCC. To know the state and the country, Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan launched an educational tour for the purpose of 'Know the country and know the future'. In order to get out of a boring life, picnic was arranged for the students every year.
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose,our national hero,is deeply remembered through colourful procession. The goal is to learn how to organize and succeed in a big way.
The Vidyaniketan was built with the objective of engaging oneself in all spheres of society and making the students fit for the society. Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan realized that the role of dormitory in the field of education is inseparable. Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan was the first privately run dormitory in the state. The purpose was to introduce the students to the dormitory environment. All this was the real plan of Mr. Hirendra Nath Nandi, the soul of Vidyaniketan, an educationist.
Our motto of "Unity, Faith and Sacrifice" has not been compromised and we have never looked back. In 1949, under the Kolkata Board, 100 students appeared for their Metric Exam and the result was not-so-good as only 10 students passed. But in the Final Exams of 1950, the students of Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan made a comeback with a 100% success rate that year with 39 students with Star Marks. This year opened the doors of the school for female students, thus becoming a Co-ed School. This same year saw the beginning of Netaji's Birthday Celebration and Procession. The sprinting had begun. The songs of marching had started. Students of the Vidyaniketan have made their presence known from State to National to International Levels and have continued to do so till date.
