Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Birauli : is situated at the bank of river Gandak in district Samastipur of Bihar State in a small village named Birauli. It is situated at a distance of 13 kms. west from the district headquarters Samastipur and 37 kms. east from Muzaffarpur. it is around 90 kms. away from the state capital, Patna, situated northern Gangetic plain of Bihar. The natural surroundings are full of bush green forests having a pleasant climate. School campus itself is full of green trees, shrubs and flowers. One Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is functional very adjacent to the Vidyalaya. World fame Rajendra Agriculture University (RAU), PUSA is also our neighboring institution which is well known as pioneer Agricultural Research Station in India.RURAL INSTITUTE of HIGHER EDUCATION,BIRAULI is also established for the community development based on Gandhian thought. JNVST: Entrance on the basis of Merit
Entrance in Navodaya Vidyalaya is made on the basis of an Entrance Test hereinafter called JNVST. Earlier JNVST was designed and conducted by NCERT but now the assignment is being performed by CBSE. The Test is objective, class neutral and is so designed as to ensure that rural children are not at disadvantage.
Reservation for Rural, SC, ST and Girl students
Keeping in view the policy of equity and social justice and empowerment of women, there is a provision for reservation for SC, ST and Girls. -
Co-educational Residential School with free Education
Navodaya Vidyalayas offer free education to talented children from Class- VI TO XII. Navodaya Vidyalayas are affiliated to the CBSE. Entry to Navodaya is in Class-VI only. Each Navadaya Vidyalayas is a co-educational residential institution providing free boarding and lodging, expenses on uniform, text books, stationary, to and from rail and bus fare. However, a nominal fee @ Rs.200/= per month is charged from students of Class IX to XII. The students belonging to SC, ST, categories, girls disabled students and children of the families below poverty line are exempted from this fee.
Adherence to Three Language Formula
The Regional Language is generally the medium of instruction from Class-VI to VIII and from Class I-XI onwards, it is English for Science and Mathematics and Hindi for Humanities subjects.
Promotion of National Integration
Navodaya Vidyalayas aim at inculcating values of national integration through migration scheme though which the inter regional exchange of students between Hindi and Non-Hindi speaking States and Vice-versa takes place for one academic year. Efforts are made to promote better understanding of the unity in diversity and cultural heritage through various activities.

Navadaya Vidyalayas are located in rural areas across the country. The State Government is to offer cost free land and rent free temporary buildings for the setting up of a Navodaya Vidyalaya.
