The curriculum of Don Bosco School of Excellence follows the mandates of the Central Board of Secondary Education with XSEED Curriculum mapped to NCERT. Today our school is divided into the following units: Kindergarten (Pre-KG and UKG), Primary (1st Grade to 5th Grade). Happy Tots curriculum is followed for Kindergarten starters, and middle school (up to 9th Grade – NCERT syllabus)
The Faculty utilizes various strategies to teach students of all ability levels and we ensure continuity from one Grade level to the next. To help further diversity in teaching techniques and to implement curriculum and CCE guidelines in letter and spirit, the faculty participates in in-service workshops and external teacher empowerment programs.
XSEED is a proven and research based academic program for schools that builds thinking skills & problem solving confidence in children. XSEED children ask more questions, can write in their own words, like doing word problems in mathematics, can complete their homework on their own, and are not afraid to speak-up in English, persist longer in solving problems, and score well on tests.
In the kindergarten, primary and middle school grades, various art supplies are used as well as different techniques to create works of art and craft.
3 R Lab: 3 R Lab endeavours to ensure “No Child is Left Behind” due to learning difficulties in mainstream school. It is a one- on- one and group tutoring programme, conducted in well-defined learning spaces within schools, for students dealing with academic challenges in fundamental reading, writing, spelling and arithmetic. Remedial education consists of a series of tested, proven and salable teaching-learning techniques and tools that (with trained tutors) help children find the learning modalities that best suit them. Multisensory learning, the Orton Gillingham method, the VAKT( Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic and Tactile) model and the Thinking Skills Program are just some of the aspects of remedial education.
Robotics: Today’s parents are concerned about their children’s future career choices, and want their children to pursue their dreams. There is a growing parental concern about their children’s education with an increasingly difficult economic climate.
At creators Space, the child gets a hands – on experience of 21st century skills in Robotics, Electronics, Techno Farming, Coding, Life Skills, Math Plus, Aero-modlling and more. The child gets a choice to pursue their passion in line with their abilities and passion. The program is called Steam Program at 14 labs from ‘Creators Space’.
Music: Music classes are offered in all grades. The students learn rhythms through clapping, singing and/or playing instruments. Some skills learned are simple notations that include pitch, rhythm, dynamics, and tempo.
Keyboard: Students vocalize the “home tone” of familiar and unfamiliar songs, and demonstrate appropriate posture and breathing techniques while performing songs by the Keyboard practices.
Archery: Archery helps students with math. Students understand how to determine area and perimeter in geometry. Shooting with a bow and arrows, especially at a target as a sport.
Karate: It is an oriental system of unarmed combat using the hands and feet to deliver and block blows, widely practiced as sport.
Yoga: In the life of children they are all on “go…go… go race” their thoughts too are constantly changing. Hence it is important for well-being to sit quite for few minutes daily, be steady at one place to get memory power for studies.
Guitar: Music and math are highly interred wined by understanding beat, rhythm and scales, children are leering how to divide, create fractions and recognize patterns.
Drums: Playing drums can relieve frustration disappointment, and stress for our children.
Dance: Dance keeps both the body and the brain active, vital for our children. It can led a new career opportunities in future.
Singing: Singing encourages a child to express their emotions and sharpens their ability to communicate while exercising lip and tongue movement.
Silambam: It helps for our children to relieves mental stress, laziness and fatigue, improves body flexibility and reflexive movement of joints and muscles.
Folk Dance: Tamilnadu has rich tradition of folk arts and crafts displaying traditions skill and dexterity handed down from generations. The folk Music and Dances represent the fustic ethos, aesthetic values and melody. The conduct of folk dances and music on occasions of temple festivals and community functions gives entertainment, myrth and merry to the villagers. The Therukoothu (Street Play), Thappattai Attam, Karagam and Kavadi, Dummy Horse dance and Peacock Dance, Oyilattam and Silambam are all rural programmes of art forms, very old but not archai-still conducted and enjoyed by people with abiding interest and enhusiasm.
