English Language Lab

Delhi Public School – Patiala , is the first of its kind in the city to be equipped with a full fledged English Language lab. English is the most essential media for communication and students at DPS-Patiala learn to harness this communication skill with the most advanced emerging technology. The well-equipped lab trains the students to acquire a good command of the language for communication purposes, with clarity and accuracy being vital for effective and efficient communication. This laboratory is very useful for assessing students' speech and it provides students with the technical tools to get the best samples of pronunciation of the language. The electronic devices used in the laboratory help stimulate the eyes and ears of the students to acquire the language quickly and easily. The laboratory’s collection is designed to assist children in the acquisition and maintenance of aural comprehension, oral and written proficiency.

Half Olympic Size Swimming Pool

Outdoor Sports curriculum is an integral part of Delhi Public School Patiala. We at DPS believe that students should build on and embed the physical development and related skills to become more competent, confident and expert in their sporting techniques, and also be able apply the techniques across different sports and physical activities. The children are taught to analyze and understand what makes a performance effective. Swimming is a discipline that imparts mental and physical prowess to a student’s mind and body, hand-in-hand with the fun associated with it. Keeping this in mind, a half-Olympic sized swimming pool is available for the students along with a Ball & Splash pool for the junior students. The intent of the pool facility is to teach the students to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 meters, to be able to use a range of strokes effectively and at the same time to imbibe the skills to perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations. All students get to use the pool twice a week, under the watchful eyes of their swimming coach. The pool facility is equipped with a filtration unit keeping in mind the importance of the pool hygiene. Separate changing and shower facilities are available for boys and girls.

Library

The school is equipped with a well-furnished library, stocked with a large repository of books and journals open to students to enhance their know-how. The library strives to make resources readily accessible when and wherever they are needed to enhance and promote the total growth and development of the students; an open-shelf system provides ease to the students to browse the vast book-bank. The library endeavors to provide students with opportunities to learn how to books and other resources to help them in their lifelong learning process Books for all the academic streams as well as for additional reading and reference are accessible by students. Every class has a minimum of 2 weekly visits to the library. Encyclopedias, 3-D Atlases and General Aptitude books are sought after in the non-academic category of books. The fiction section has the rich collection of classics and the latest books by the best rated writers. We, at DPS Patiala, are continuously striving to give the best exposure to our students so that they gain the maximum benefit as far as knowledge is concerned.

Transport

The school has a fleet of Air Conditioned buses and Vans to cater to the transport needs of the school. Safety and security of the students is the foremost concern of the school. The whole fleet is equipped with latest features like GPS, CCTV Cameras, Hydraulic Powered window, Speed Governor, as prescribed by the State Transport Authority. All major routes inside Patiala are covered; Adjacent cities of Sirhind, Nabha and their villages are also covered for student pick-ups and drops.

Computer Lab

Students, starting from preparatory section are imparted computer education to make them tech savvy. The computer lab is equipped with the latest computers armed with the best softwares. The curriculum is planned and delivered in a way that students get the maximum hands-on practical exposure to the subject.

Madical check up

The School infirmary is looked after by a qualified Doctor. Medical Check-up of the students will be regularly carried out and a record maintained. If the doctor / nurse is of the opinion that a child needs special medical attention the parents will be informed. Parents should inform the school authorities regarding children with physical disabilities. Special attention can be paid to the concerned child. All parents are requested to impart Health Education to their children. A. Maintain personal hygiene such as trimming of nails / hair and being neat on a regular basis. B. Exercise regularly. C. Sleep at least eight hours daily. D. Have a balanced diet, nutritionally rich in proteins and milk. E. Drink water, which is boiled or filtered. All students are advised to bring their bottles from home. F. Avoid consumption of ice creams, other milk products and eatables from roadside vendors and kiosks. G. All children should also be: 1. Dewormed at least once in six months, on the advice of the family physician. 2. Have a dental and ophthalmic check-up once every year by a well qualified dental surgeon and ophthalmologist. 3. Immunized as per the schedule given: Students suffering from infectious diseases such as Conjunctivitis, Dermatitis and Scabies etc. should not be sent to school until they have fully recovered. Students suffering from chronic diseases etc. are advised to be under continuous medical supervision of a doctor, who is a specialist in the concerned field. A history of their illness must be filled up in the Almanac, along with the treatment and the names of medicines prescribed by the doctor. Parents are also advised to keep the school nurse informed of any medical/ health problem which may have developed during the academic year. The medical history of the student must be filled up by the parents in the join of separate sheet.
